Movie Lovers is Almost Famous!
Back in April 2014, Jill decided to buy the movie store because, well, she knew nothing about movies. A loyal Movie Lovers customer for two decades, Jill was devastated to learn her beloved video store was on the brink of shuttering its doors. So she bought it. (It seemed apropos since she had just been fired from her job.) Today, she happily employs her favorite cinephiles and continues to get the best recommendations from them. Or else they’re fired.
Joe. Bozeman Manager
Joe got his undergraduate and Masters degrees at Montana State University. One of Joe’s first memories is of seeing The Age of Innocence in the theater when he was 5 years old. He didn’t care for it much then, but is ready to admit, with the advantage of a few decades under his belt, that it might be a pretty good movie after all. Since then he has seen more movies than you’ve had hot meals.
Leann. Belgrade Manager
Leann began working at Movie Lovers in 2016 after graduating MSU, not expecting to fall in love with the job and make a career out of it. She has lived in the Gallatin Valley her entire life and just can’t see leaving such a beautiful place. She spends her time skiing, camping, traveling and hanging out with her dog, Bo, whom you may have met in the store before! She is always good for a conversation about TV shows, The Goonies and weird movies.
Jim. Bozeman Clerk
Trapped in time, surrounded by evil, low on gas, Jim is kept in prime customer service condition using a unique combination of software and organic systems. Although more machine now than man, Jim has somehow managed to retain a shred of his former humanity, which is to serve him well in the trials to come – in accordance with prophecy.
Sierra. Bozeman Clerk
As Sierra drove into Bozeman for the first time she saw the Movie Lovers sign all lit up and thought to herself, “Hey, I like movies.” From that point on, she has been here, making sure that our customers rent Point Break, Boogie Nights and an assortment of other films about cannibals and/or music. She is currently in her fourth year in the film program at MSU and will be graduating this spring (cross your fingers). Keep a look out, because you just might see her in 30 years at The Academy Awards thanking Movie Lovers and Keanu Reeves as she accepts her Oscar for best director.
Renee. Belgrade Clerk
Renee has resided in Montana for most of her life. She likes to spend her time playing video games, painting, cooking and hanging out with her dog when she’s not watching movies! You may see her with her Golden Girls shirt (she’s a Sophia… or a Dorothy, it’s a difficult decision) and a cup of tea in her hand while she talks to you about the Twilight Zone or Twin Peaks.
Matt. Bozeman Clerk
Hi my name is Matt, I like long walks in the woods, I’ve seen the rings of Saturn and supernovas, traveled to 48 states and hold a healthy distrust of authority. I’m composed of 95% human being, 4% movie knowledge, and 1% hot gas. Dogs are my best friends, favorite childhood film was ‘Hook’, and I’ve always held a particular fondness for some of the single strangest, gorgeous, obscure, most joyously awful films imaginable. Feel free to ask me for a few of my favorites.
Michelle. Bozeman Clerk
I was born and raised in Minnesota, and moved to Montana 13 years ago. I have two kids and a full fledged love for animals. My full time job has me as an Academic Interventionist at the Belgrade Middle School, while Movie Lovers keeps me busy the rest of the time. Horror is my favorite genre of movies, but the action packed movie Con Air is still my all time favorite. A few of my other top ones are, all the new Planet of The Apes, Kong movies, the Pitch Perfects, the Despicable Me’s, and all the Fast and Furious’.
J.D. Belgrade Clerk
My name is J.D. Hoppe and I am going into my sophomore year of high school. I was born here in Montana (Missoula) and raised in Belgrade. My hobbies include, acting, film-making, basketball, camping, fishing, and pretty much anything outdoors.
I auditioned for Timber the Treasure Dog when I was 12 years old, and was ecstatic to land the lead role of Mikey Jones. While filming I met some amazing actors and we got to see a lot of very beautiful places in Montana that set the background for filming. We filmed in Paradise Valley, Livingston, Ennis, Hyalite Canyon as well as in the Helena area. It was an experience of a lifetime and opened many doors for me.
I have since had a role in a Montana Anti-Tobacco PSA. And recently I was able to film an audition tape here at home and submit for a role in the film Sk8 Dawg, which was filmed in Michigan last summer. I was honored to land the lead role in that film as well, playing Tommy Schooner. That film was also very awesome and I traveled in an airplane for the first time ever.
I am now working on a film compilation for the Belgrade Chamber of Commerce. It will be showing all of the great qualities and things that Belgrade has to offer and how we are a wonderful “basecamp” place to set up and explore the rest of Montana. Very excited to be working on this project as well.
I am very thankful to be able to live in Montana where the opportunities are endless.
